
Now you have sufficient information to proceed. Before you apply formally, you need to prepare a research proposal. An important part of the application is to demonstrate a capacity for independent research and a readiness to begin working on your chosen topic. The Australian Institute of Health Innovation requires a detailed research proposal (1-3 pages). The proposal should be prepared in consultation with the prospective supervisor. It is a good test to see if you have thought through the issues and you are now in a position to formulate how your research will look in outline.

The Learning Centre provides some useful guidelines for preparation of thesis proposals, which may assist you in structuring and planning your proposal. The proposal must be sufficiently detailed to enable us to determine whether it is possible to provide adequate supervision and resources to support your research. As part of the application process, your proposal will be peer reviewed to see if it is a viable PhD or Master by research proposal.
